Which candidate best fits my interests?

This is interesting. Yes, I'm a Democrat in my concerns, but I wasn't expecting this result. Curiouser and curiouser... This is from a TV station in the Quad Cities area of eastern Iowa.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dragonhearth for posting this originally.

I find it interesting that although it looks like you and I only disagree on two things (taxes and social security), my top 2 candidates are Republicans. My bottom 3 are also Republicans! Edwards was my #4 and Richardson #5. My father (who is a Republican politician) got Richardson as his #1! :P

I don't like Edwards, but not knowing anything about Richardson, I'd give him a listen anyway.

There's one thing about the survey that I'm curious of. The first thing it asks for is a zip code to adjust demographic info. I wonder if in some respects that may or may weight a candidate versus a percieved point of view in certain regions. California is a supposed liberal bastion while the Dakotas are viewed by many as populist or conservative. If the poll wieghts or bias's the info, that could explain the results a bit. Given that its a local TV station in Iowa, anything's possible in terms of that.

I think I'm going to be looking more at Richardson to balance my views. I'm not willing to blindly vote for Hillary or Obama regardless of their 'front-runner' status. A for the GOP candidates, none of them (especially Mitt, Rudi or Fred) are high on my "trust them not to make things worse in the country or the world" list of people. Social conservatism in national politics is pretty much discredited in my eyes.
