So when we left our intrepid little band of adventurers, they were recovering from the trauma of dealing with traffic and shoppers…

Given the mirth and mayhem of Friday, Saturday was much more relaxed. In fact, I actually managed to sleep in till almost 9am. This may not seem like much, but when you have to go to bed at 11pm or later and wake up by 5:45 the next morning, a few hours of extra sleep are golden. After everyone was up, I made a tray of fresh baked cinnamon rolls for everyone, which were promptly gobbled down in short order. Given the sniffles, the general bleah feeling, it was nice taking the morning at a decidedly slower pace.

Since Chris and I were feeling a little better cold-wise that afternoon, I decided that a matinee would be a nice treat (because there was no way I was going to try shopping that weekend). With storm clouds gathering on the northern horizon, we piled into the Jeep, went to the local megaplex, and bought tickets to see National Treasure. Now I’m not a movie reviewer by trade, but if you want a fun, entertaining and attention keeping movie, this is one to see. Not to reveal too much, but Nicolas Cage plays Ben Franklin Gates, a treasure hunter from a family of treasure hunters. This isn’t a “Raiders of the Lost Ark” or “Tomb Raider” type movie though there is a fair amount of action and adventure. Nope the treasure they are looking for was hidden by the founding fathers of the nation and dates back to the treasures supposedly amassed by the Knights Templar (which instantly got my interest being descended from an old Templar family line). The plot twists and the clues used are done in a very believable format. This one is worth seeing on the big screen.

I considered going to the local fencing practice, but when I woke up Sunday I felt terrible. My head was all stopped up and I had no energy. No Sunday would be the day I’d use to write and catch up further on correspondence. This is no small task. I tend to be a perfectionist in some things and how I express myself in writing is one of them. Yes, I know I make type-o’s but what I’m concerned about is the style and content of what I write. When I write, there must be a flow and a proper measure of thoughts and ideas. For the other writers, you’ll immediately understand that everything, including the simple use of a word, the placement punctuation, or the turn of a phrase while being read, gives a certain indelible flavor to the to the whole idea being expressed. The product should always be more than merely the sum of its parts.

Well after several hours of typing and repeatedly running the kids out of my den, I heard Chris let out the scream and whimper that would be associated later with his broken hand. It all seemed like nothing at the time. He’d jumped onto his sister’s back while they were horsing around. When she got up this caused her to lose her balance and fall backward onto him. He was teary eyed and upset for several minutes. I iced his hand and gave him Motrin at the time thinking it was only a sprain or deep bruise. Regretfully no it was more.

Well I think this catches me up through the weekend. Before I close allow me to offer you this ludicrous story from the area I used to live in. I think you’ll find it funny.
