This weekend should be full of more SCA fun (maybe). My home Barony of Dun Or in the SCA, is holding its Anniversary event. Normally Anniversary out here in Caid is when Champions are determined for the coming year. Competition tourneys and local fanfare. In years past, we’ve had almost no outside participation, but this event marks a turning point. Our Current Baron and Baroness, our landed representatives of the Crown of Caid are stepping down after 6 years…

FINALLY!!!

It would be cruel to gloat over their stepping down and the prospect of new local leadership, especially after last six years for mayhem here, but I won’t. I’m looking forward to our new B & B stepping up in perhaps a few weeks. Yes, I said perhaps a few weeks. This morning while reading the e-mails, the incoming Baroness commented that the Crown WOULD be attending Anniversary. Understand that we’ve been told they could not and would not be attending this event. We have been frantically working to prepare for Coronation (held here in November) as where Don Colyn and Lady Muirath would step up; followed by Yule (which I’m co-manager/autocrat for) in December, where they’d hold their first court. Now there is a possibility that all of the above could happen tomorrow! I guess we’ll have to see where the dust settles tomorrow.

The event for anyone interested is in Corson Park (38226 10th St E) in Palmdale, CA. If the civil security isn’t good, there’s always something about people carrying swords that dissuades the local thugs. There’s fast food and small restaurants close by as well. I’m going to get there after 10:30 because Chris has a soccer game early in the morning. Hopefully I’ll get there in time for the tourney.

Brenna is going to be spending the day with her best friend at Magic Mountain. Somehow, I’m supposed to give her spending money (they’re taking her on their pass), but I’m very close to flat broke. ::sigh:: gotta figure out something.. always do…

I do so hate backtracking but it would be a shame to not post these.

While downloading pictures from my daughter’s camera, I discovered several more photos from the Asylum site in West Lancaster. Yes, the “farm” was apparently at one time an orphanage and an asylum for mentally questionable youth. Great… I’d thought this site was on the opposite side of the community, but hey, it goes a long way to explains at lot about the site. It explained the heavy concrete support pillars around the building. It explains why my daughter and I felt the hackles on and backs of our necks rise and our becoming very “defensive” about our surroundings.

These pictures came out a bit odd. I’ve only resized them and uploaded them with manipulation.

Asylum madness anyone? (Wide shots) )
