Kentuckiana Wanderings 2007

During my trip back home to the Louisville area, I had the opportunity to climb into the car and wander the open roads between Louisville and Lexington. Lexington was the eventual goal, but with an entire day to myself, time slowed down to comfortable slices based on whim not a deadline. In part, it was pleasant exercise in photographing the beauty of the region I grew up in, and documenting any abandoned sites I happened to see along the way. In this same manner is how I’ve chosen to present those images, one post will be the lost and abandoned; while the next will be the normal and natural. The abandoned locations will appear in the photo blog [livejournal.com profile] abandonedplaces

This coming Friday, is the last Fright Night LA (till 2009 tentatively). This month’s show will again feature horror movies from the 50’s and 60’s. The musical guest this month is Frankenstein, which performed at the very first Fright Night over 3 years ago. The artist of the month is none other than Noah K (our host) who’s displaying posters from many of the past shows over the years.

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock (and some ran there after all my posts last month), I showed my abandoned sites photography at Fright Night LA in September. For those who came out to look, comment, compliment and purchase photos, again thank you. Despite being the artist of the month, I bounced around and photographed the comings, goings on and general mayhem at the show. Here’s some of what you missed.

I got word today that Potapov's Service Station on National Trails Highway (Old Route 66) near Helendale, was demolished recently. The entire site was completely leveled and cleared according to the source.

Here's my recent photo set -
