Every little town has them, the little store or shop that closed for no particular reason. Here in the southern US, these places spring up on the roadside like wildflowers in spring and fade away after a few years. Sometimes they’re well established and sometimes they’re holes in the wall. Here’s several places I found in and around the town of Hartselle, Alabama.

I love how the vines were slowly trying to creep across the face of the building

Down the road a little ways was a set of commercial buildings, all forgotten and passed by on the roadside

This had apparently been a gas station/grocery store with an attached apartment in the back.

Notes from the past

The letters were at least 2 years old by their postmark

Within sight of the previous location was this even older storefront

Taken through a shattered but well barred window
