Anyone in the local area have access or recomnmendations on where I could find, borrow or make use of a wheelchair for a shoot on Sunday??? I'm willing to consider purchase or make a small donation for a loaner.
Purchase will cost you $300 and UP. Find a small local drugstore (look up Good Neighbor Pharmacy in your phone book...it's NOT a chain, it's a buying group for local independent pharmacies). The one I sometimes work at rents chairs for $25 for the weekend for pharmacy customers...it's a bit more if you don't regularly get your Rx there.
this may be a far shot, but have you checked thrift stores to see if you can find one there? I have a slight medical fetish, and acquiring a wheelchair is an idea i've toyed with for awhile, and that's where I'd start looking. There are also medical supply shops that could have them, but as the comment above states, it would be a costly purchase brand new. I don't think hospitals just toss those by the dumpsters when they've reached their expiration date either...
I hope you can post a shot or two when you're done, assuming you're able to get one.
Ask a nursing home or care home? Or even a church! They'll often lend items like that out in lieu of a donation. Though they may ask you to leave something to ensure you'll come back with the thing!
