Notes, Motes and Mayhem

It's been a wild couple days. Today has been a mess of jumbled intentions and frayed nerves throughout the household. The weekend prior reminded me of the rollercoasters we rode Saturday.
Friday’s Game – Chris played again on Friday. After being down with the crud last week (and still hacking bits of it out), he looked moderately effective. He assisted on one goal and scored one in a 5 to 4 win.
The house in Lancaster – While we were at Chris’s game Friday evening I received bad news from my property manager. The new tenant balked on completing the deal. I have to return a portion of the deposit and still make my bills related to the house. Joy.. (sulks away). Fortunately I have a good property manager who’s already looking into more potential renters.
Saturday – 6 Flags Over Georgia
We’d originally been planning to go to Louisville to spend the day at the KY State Fair this past weekend. As the weekend approached two things became very clear. I was getting no rest during the week and the weather in Louisville was looking dicey for a visit. Instead mid-week we decided to head over to Six Flags for a day trip. Since I’d bought the tickets in June, I’d long ago absorbed the cost. The only expense would be the food and parking. That’s where I discovered the Six Flags parks are making their money back for selling discount tickets. Parking was $15 and food costs were insane (lunch cost over $50 for four of us).
Anyhow, while Brenna elected to stay home, Wendy, her son, Christophe and I drove to Atlanta bright and early. The park was surprising. Unlike its sister park in southern California (6 Flags Magic Mountain), Six Flags over Georgia was clean, the staff was friendly and most of the rides were running all day. The park was also operating at only about one third capacity (if that). That made for a crowd free environment and made it fun to take Wendy’s toddler around the park. When we first got there, I took Chris to the ride that would propel him into his ‘tween’ years. He’d get to ride his first ‘adult’ roller coaster – “Goliath” from the front seat. He loved it! I did the same thing with Brenna when we first moved to SoCal and she was about the same age.
The only down side to the day was one of the rides. Early in the afternoon we took turns riding the “Georgia Cyclone.” This is a classic compact wooden roller coaster based on the Cyclone at Coney Island. This coaster was so bouncy, jerky and the tracks so crooked, that it beat the Hell out of us. It jerked me around so badly that I had neck pain for much of the day. Chris complained about his shoulder and neck, while Wendy had a headache for the next three hours.
We stayed at the park till about 6pm when the heat and humidity made it far too uncomfortable to stay even after riding the Thunder Mountain raft ride (the boys rode it three times back to back). The drive back was calm and fairly relaxed. Of course I think exhaustion played a big part there.
Sunday - Recovery
The heat and battering we took Saturday, made Sunday our rest & recovery day.
