Notes and Motes
Mar. 15th, 2011 07:10 amAfter an unplanned delay to my previous post, I thought it might be a good to follow up on some areas of interest and concern.
Photo stuff
This past Saturday I drove down to Birmingham for a planned nature and abandoned place photo hunt. From previous experiences, I’ve learned to have back-up plans for things to do there. While I was expecting to possibly meet with a new acquaintance for an abandoned site hunt and another for a possible modeling gig, that didn’t happen as planned. Instead I got together with Patricia for a day of shooting and Glaus joined us for lunch. The first site visited was the Birmingham Botanical Gardens ostensively for nature photos and to survey the site as a shooting location for model set I’m working on. After meeting Patricia there and wandering for some time, we grabbed lunch in Homewood. After lunch she and I drove into downtown and recon’d a number of sites.
Political
As some of you may have noticed, between here and Facebook, my political side has become active again. I’m not stumping for candidates, but I am pushing back at the social injustices I see growing. Across the upper Midwest (Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio) basic civil rights are being removed by reactionary right wing legislatures. In Arizona the law pursuing illegals has trod on the powers that are reserved to the Federal government. Conversely, this friction between the State and Federal authorities is limiting cooperation on stemming the flow of illegals coming north and firearms going south.
Lancaster House
The costs just keep on coming. The kitchen faucet was broken and leaking, which I bought but now has to be installed. Two windows were broken and are needing replacement panes. I keep hoping that we’ll get the place fixed and available to show again soon. I’ve absorbed nearly 5 months without the income. It’s not like I’m making money on it. The rent paid the monthly mortgage payment, the home warranty, home insurance and management fee with little left over for buffer.
