The previous post was a little briefer than I’d been planning, but dealing with illness and life issues has made the past two days a blur.

First off, on illness issues, I’d like to thank everyone for their thoughts and support. I’ve been more than a bit busy caring for them the last two days. O note, both of them are doing pretty well. Chris’s finger blister has split and appears to be healing. Other than the mysterious black dots that came out the first day, there’s no indication of what it was. He’s taking it in stride and constantly is showing me what condition it’s in.

Brenna is frustrated and frustrating. We’ve been making her rest and keep her hands out of things, but the clean everything, hands-off policy has been tough. We’re probably being anal retentive, but we’ve been keeping her from handing food stuffs except her own where the utensils aren’t going to be used by anyone else. We’ve also been making her pick up after herself daily. It’s probably overkill, since she likely had this last week, but quite simply I can’t afford to have anyone else in the household sick.

Speaking of the home front, Trish is making the final plans and schemes for her departure. She’s paid me $100 but by my estimate, still owes me close to $150 for various things (the cat’s vet bill was $200 alone). She is insistent that she wants to bring in “the boy” from Florida to visit her and ride north with her to Seattle. Mind you, those airline tickets are going to cost $400. I don’t see how she can afford to move and pay his way, but she won’t listen to me. I merely want my house back to myself. I have mixed feelings on her stay. Although she’s helped with Brenna’s life views a bit, she’s also rode her ass mercilessly for various things. The relationship with Chris has been made tenser and he now seems increasingly wary of her and she frustrated with him.

Tonight I’m heading down to Hollywood for the Molly Crabapple book signing. The winds seem to be more allowing for travel that way. Yesterday, the winds were blowing 40 mph, steady state in the valley and gusting to 52 at the point I went home from work. It was worse in the passes to and from LA.

One last personal note; the much sought after raise and promotion may not be in the works. When I spoke with my manager Friday, he hemmed and hawed about the ratings and the plans. Yesterday, after a misunderstanding on whether I was or wasn’t photographing something unofficially for the organization (which proves that you should never offer anything extra for your business), we had an unpleasant meeting about duties and responsibilities. Further backtracking.. I’m updating my resume and sending it to Northrop and Boeing. I’m not very happy with the Lockheed method of personnel management when there’s no means to move up beyond moving out. I’m even less happy that the management is spring-loaded to react rather than ask. At this point, I wonder why I’m staying in this field.

Oh well.. photos coming next.
