Yesterday I listened to an interview by National Public Radio with the Sec of Homeland Security (and head of FEMA), Michael Chertoff. When asked about the 2000 people at the New Orleans Ernest Morial Convention Center, he kept dodging the question to address issues at the Super Dome. When the head of the Agency who's "supposed to be" heading relief efforts was pressed about it, he noted that he wouldn't respond to (this is an EXACT QUOTE) "unconfirmed reports by people who think they know what's happening." The interviewer finally pushed him to note that the "unconfirmed reports" were given my city officials, NPR and NBC reporters.

What kind of an ass-hat moron are we dealing with? Do these flippin DC dweebs in their ivory towers ever care to open a newpaper or browse a news website?
This was reported by CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/09/02/katrina.impact/index.html and details the situation at the Convention Center.
